LOGAN, Utah - New Dawn Technologies announced the release of their data exchange toolkit for the sharing of data to and from their case management and workflow management solutions in the JustWare | Solution Suite.
According to Tom Higgins, President and CEO, "We are constantly receiving the request from our JustWare users to integrate and share data with other criminal justice agencies. Many of them wish to receive, view, and send data with very diverse systems ranging from fourth generation developed applications, running on SQL compliant databases to those that operate off of proprietary, non ODBC compliant databases. The advent of XML allows us to interact with any of these criminal justice systems."
JusticeBroker is based off of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) XML protocol. XML is a simple, flexible text format designed for large-scale electronic publishing.
Having an XML-based messaging protocol is considered critical for the development of communication and data exchange between differing business-to-business applications. For example, the use of XML enables the automatic entry of new case and name information to the prosecutor from a law enforcement records management system without requiring that the two software applications share the same operating system, application software, or programming language.
This type of server-to-server communication allows courts, prosecutors, and public defenders to share name, case, calendar, and document information. Higgins further stated, "The use of JusticeBroker for data exchange will have multiple benefits for our JustWare customers and the agencies that interact with them. Data entry tasks are eliminated, case and name data can be generated in the arresting agencies, and electronically exchanged with prosecutors and public defenders and on to court applications."
"Cost and political barriers are often overcome by utilizing XML based data-exchange methods," Higgins stated.
"Agencies, police chiefs, sheriffs, judges, information technology staff members, and other administrators that are accustomed to viewing and managing data with their existing systems, can now work in conjunction with JustWare users for data sharing, without having to incur the costs of replacement or worrying about technical compatibility," said Higgins.
